At Jay Carter Roofing & Sheet Metal, we do not recommend that you attempt a thorough inspection of your roof. It’s dangerous and without training, you may not be able to spot all of the problems.
There are however some signs that you can see safely, from inside the house or building and from the ground. If you detect or suspect problems, we can take it to the next level.
We will conduct a free inspection of your roof, provide a written report and support our findings with digital photographs that you can see instantly.
Here, then, are some of the signs that you can watch for:
Water stains or any discoloration in you ceiling or walls. This could be the result of a water leak, poor attic ventilation or inadequate insulation. (photo)
Pieces of roofing material on the ground around the house or building. This could be the result of a roof covering that has reached the end of its service life or damage from high winds or wind-blown debris. (photo)
Buckling or bubbling shingles. You may be able to see this problem from the ground. It often occurs when the material between the shingles and the wood roof gets wet, there is excessive heat from beneath the shingles or the shingles are simple worn out. (photo)
Age. If your roof is covered by asphalt shingles that are more than 15 to 20 years old, they may be nearing — or at the end — of their service life. The shingles may look fine from the ground, but, on closer inspection, they’re clearly thin, cracking and they’ve lost the bulk of their granular coat. (photo)
It’s becoming more difficult to heat or cool your house or building. In warm weather, inadequate ventilation will trap hot air in the attic, causing air conditioning systems to work harder, or leaving your home’s interior hotter and less comfortable. In both hot and cold weather, insufficient attic ventilation may cause moisture in the attic to become trapped and condense on the rafters. This condensed moisture can drip down onto the insulation and reduce its effectiveness. (photo)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
